Hydraulic Reservoir Dipstick
Here is
a picture of a new
hydraulic reservoir dipstick made by Harold Settle for the Meyers hydraulic
reservoir. It
is a combination filler plug and dipstick. It is made of aluminum, has
an o-ring seal, a
relief cut on the stick for the "full" indication. It is
retained by a hairpin clip and safety wire.
The big
advantage of this is that you don't have to take the cowling off to check the
reservoir level. You
simply open the oil dipstick door and reach in to the fill plug, unscrew it
and wipe it off, and then place
it back into the reservoir as any other dipstick. When you are finished
checking the fluid level, screw it back in and reinstall the hairpin
clip. Nothing to it.
It has the FAA's blessings with a 337. Personally, I think that all 200s should have one, just because everything on the airplane is operated by hydraulics, and as they are now, it's so much trouble to check the level, it doesn't get done.
The price is $40.00 FOB Little Rock, Arkansas.
